Oyster Cook-Off

Looking for something to enjoy after the holidays? Make plans to attend the 2026 Apalachicola Oyster Cook-Off on Saturday, January 17, held at Riverfront Park in historic Apalachicola. This family-friendly event is one of the most anticipated winter festivals on Florida’s Forgotten Coast, drawing visitors from near and far to enjoy oysters, live music, food, fun, and community spirit.

A Full Day of Food, Fun, and Entertainment

The festivities begin early and carry on all day. While you’re savoring the coastal flavors, enjoy live music beginning at 2 p.m., along with fun kids’ activities, dancing performances, and entertainment from downtown venues the night before. Don’t miss the crowd-favorite fireman dance during the dance class showcase at 1 p.m.

The event also features a unique silent auction filled with oyster-inspired art and one-of-a-kind items. Many of these pieces are available through a buy-it-now option, so arrive early if you want first dibs on the best local finds.

Don’t Miss the 5K and Oyster Cook-Off Contest

Start your Saturday off with the Half-Shell Hustle, a super-fun 5K race. Registration opens at 7 a.m. in Riverfront Park and the race begins at 8 a.m. Every participant receives a race t-shirt and top finishers will take home medals.

Then, it’s time to get competitive with the signature Oyster Cook-Off. This spirited contest is open to all, and entries must be submitted by January 5, 2026, along with a $25 fee. Finalists will be given fresh oysters and have two hours to prepare their dish using their own ingredients, utensils, and heat sources. Judging starts at 2 p.m. with winners announced shortly after. Trophies are awarded to the top three oyster creations based on taste, presentation, originality, and use of oysters.

Support a Great Cause

This beloved event is more than just great food and fun; it’s also a meaningful fundraiser. All proceeds benefit the Apalachicola Volunteer Fire Department. Thanks to generous community support over the years, the department has been able to purchase essential equipment, including a new fire truck.
