Reserve Wednesday: Artificial Reefs in Franklin County

March 16, 2022 @ 2:00 pm - 3:00 pm

  • This event has passed.

Florida has one of the most active artificial reef programs along the Gulf and Atlantic coasts. Artificial reefs can enhance recreational and diving opportunities, increase reef fish habitat, help protect shorelines, and provide a stable substrate for a number of marine and estuarine species. Here in Franklin County, the Apalachicola Artificial Reef Association (AARA) is the organization that oversees the expansion of artificial reef structures. Grayson Shepard from the AARA will present an overview of what artificial reefs are and provide the latest updates on the reefs in Franklin County.
