Dixie Theatre

A landmark of Apalachicola’s arts and entertainment history, the Dixie Theatre first opened in 1913 and quickly became a cultural center for Franklin County. Originally hosting traveling theatre troupes and local performers, it later became a movie house before closing in 1967. The historic theatre was reconstructed and reopened in 1998, beginning a new chapter that included professional theatre, live music, comedy and special events. Today, the Dixie remains an important piece of Apalachicola’s performing arts heritage.
