We are longtime residents of Apalachicola. Jerry worked at the Post Office delivering mail on a bicycle until 1995 back in the days when you had to watch out for dogs sleeping in the middle of Highway 98. Joyce spent many years shucking oysters and now makes fine jewelry. We introduced ourselves to the original Sponge Exchange building back in 1995 selling antiques and continue to do so. Not long afterward I started investigating the possibilities of incorporating “natural sponge” (seemed like a shoe-in) to the business, as I am a certified diver of 20 years. I am now a sponge broker and we deal with the Greek, Turkish, and international divers of the Gulf of Mexico. We sell wholesale and retail sponges all over the country and thoroughly enjoy explaining the life of the sea sponge to visitors of our unique store. As of Dec 1 2010 we will be welcoming all to our new location. We are now in the Historic Montgomery Building at 31 Ave E, at the ‘blinking light’ downtown Apalachicola. You will love what we have done!
