SUMMARY:Full Moon Climb
DESCRIPTION:The Crooked River Lighthouse will be hosting a Full Moon Lighthouse Climb on Tuesday\, April 27\, 2021\, from 7:00-10:00 pm in Carrabelle\, FL. Visitors can enjoy this opportunity to see the St. George Sound and Carrabelle Beach’s gorgeous natural surroundings under the evening sky. Guests can also enjoy the fire pit (weather permitting). The museum and gift shop will be open for browsing and shopping. And\, there will be live music by the Bog Lilies! \nThe climb to the top of the tallest Forgotten Coast lighthouse rewards bold climbers with breathtaking views of the bay. The cost is $8 for adults and $3 for kids. All climbers must be 44 inches tall. Due to the Full Moon Climbs’ popularity\, reservations are required for those who wish to climb the lighthouse tower during this event. COVID protocols limit one party at a time to climb the tower\, and each party will exit before the next one climbs. A limited number of climbers are allowed in each party. There will be a time limit for viewing from the top. Guests who would like a more leisurely climbing experience are welcome to enjoy one of the daytime climbs available every Wednesday through Sunday. \nCrooked River Lighthouse is located in Carrabelle\, just west of the Carrabelle Public Beach Park at 1975 Hwy 98 W\, Carrabelle. DESCRIPTION:The Crooked River Lighthouse will be hosting a special Full Moon Lighthouse event on Sunday\, March 28\, 2021 from 7:00-10:00 pm in Carrabelle\, FL. This special outdoor event will feature live music\, a glowing fire pit\, and low country boil. Visitors can enjoy this opportunity to see the gorgeous natural surroundings of the St. George Sound and Carrabelle Beach under the evening sky. Live music will be provided by the Rio Jazz Trio playing Blues\, Ballads\, Bebop and Bossanova. Bring a chair and enjoy the evening. The museum and gift shop will be open for browsing and shopping. Admission for this special Full Moon event is $10 per person. (Climbs are not included in this price.) \nFor this month’s special event\, admission must be purchased in advance. Admission cost is $10 per person and includes the live music\, fire pit\, low country boil and museum access. Admission can be paid online or at the Crooked River Lighthouse Gift Shop. \n \nIn addition\, some guests may also choose to enjoy evening tower climbs. The climb to the top of the tallest Forgotten Coast lighthouse rewards climbers with breathtaking views of the bay. Climbers must be 44” tall. A climb timeslot reservation is required and can be made by calling 850-697-2732. The market\, at the foot of the lighthouse\, features vendors from the community with perfect holiday gifts like gorgeous art and photography\, ornaments\, handcrafted soaps\, craft items\, handmade goods\, fresh roasted coffee\, delicious baked goods\, exotic starter plants\, plus unique maritime items inside. \nThis week we will again have delicious food guests can eat while browsing the vendors. Mao’s BBQ will be selling their delicious Mojo chicken or pork\, yellow rice\, and cabbage. At 1:00 pm\, local herbalist\, Denise Williams will take visitors for a guided medicinal plant walk. Denise will lead guests for this 30-minute walk around the grounds of lighthouse and explore its natural resources. The walk costs $5 and accepts a max of 10 people. \nGuests can also visit the free Museum and browse inside the Lighthouse Gift Shop for unique nautical and holiday gifts. DESCRIPTION:The Crooked River Lighthouse will be hosting a Blue Moon Halloween celebration on Saturday\, October 31st\, from 7-10 pm in Carrabelle\, FL. This fun\, family-friendly Halloween event will be held at Crooked River Lighthouse Park. There will be lots of candy on the Keeper’s House porch and a sampling of lanterns from Lantern Fest will be on display. Children and families are encouraged to drop by in their most adorable\, creative or spooky costumes. Dave’s Dawg House will be on site selling hot dogs\, sausage dogs\, boiled peanuts and other snacks. Visitors can enjoy the fire pit (weather permitting). The museum and gift shop will also be open and will feature special Halloween jewelry for guests’ enjoyment. \nWhenever there are two full moons in one month\, the second one is called a Blue Moon. A Halloween full moon hasn’t appeared in the Eastern Time zone since 1944\, according to Farmers’ Almanac. \nFor those visitors who like a bit of a challenge\, evening tower climbs will be available. The tallest lighthouse on the Forgotten Coast provides beautiful views of St. George Sound. For this special evening\, climbs for children are free. Adult climbs are $5. (Children must be supervised by an adult. All climbers must be 44 inches or taller. Climbs are available weather permitting.) \nSocial distancing guidelines will apply. Masks are encouraged for those attending. Guests are encouraged to use hand sanitizer and wash hands frequently. Vendor may sign up at any time. The cost to be a vendor is FREE for members of the Carrabelle Lighthouse Association and $10 per market for non-members. SUMMARY:Full Moon Climb
DESCRIPTION:The Crooked River Lighthouse is bringing back their popular Full Moon Lighthouse Climb events starting Sunday\, August 2nd\, from 7-10 pm in Carrabelle\, FL. Visitors can enjoy this opportunity to see the gorgeous natural surroundings of the St. George Sound\, Carrabelle Beach\, and Dog Island\, under the night sky at this special Crooked River Lighthouse evening climb. \nThe Full Moon for August is known as the Sturgeon Moon. Other names for this Full Moon include ”Full Green Corn Moon\,” signaling that the corn was nearly ready for harvest\, “Wheat Cut Moon\,” “Moon When All Things Ripen\,” and ”Blueberry Moon.” (Credit: Farmer’s Almanac). \nAt this month’s event\, visitors will also be able to enjoy the glow of the sunset as well of the moonrise. Visitors can climb to the top of the tallest lighthouse on the Forgotten Coast\, Crooked River Lighthouse\, to see breathtaking views of the bay under the glow of the beautiful setting sun and the rising full moon. Cost is just $8. The museum and gift shop will also be open for guests’ enjoyment. All climbers must be 44 inches tall. Please note\, there will be no live music at this month’s event.
