DESCRIPTION:The Crooked River Lighthouse will be hosting Twilight at the Tower on Thursday\, April 2 from 7:00-10:00 pm ET in Carrabelle\, FL. This special event invites visitors to enjoy after-hours museum visits\, gift shop browsing\, a glowing bonfire\, tower climbs\, and the gorgeous natural surroundings of St. George Sound and Carrabelle Beach as evening falls and the moon rises. Plus guests will enjoy a participative experience called a ”Sound Bath”\, a guided relaxation experience using calming\, continuous sounds to relax the body and mind. Admission is free and evening climbs are $6 for the public\, free for current members and free for those 12 and under with a ticketed adult. Climb reservations are available in the gift shop or online. \nA sound bath explores the powerful vibrations of harmonic tones as a source of healing. This unique\, meditative session will be presented by The Gong Experience gongliers (gong players) Sahadev and Kasimira. The gong\, an ancient instrument\, when properly played resonates pure sound that can reach deep emotional places in a powerful and primal way. Guests are welcome to bring a chair and sit\, watch\, listen\, feel and experience this meditative event. \nSahadev (Steve Brazier) and Kasimira Vogel are musicians and yogis who have devotedly studied gong techniques. They have made it their personal mission to share this special gift of healing with as many people as they can. Kasimira\, Reiki Master and Meditation instructor\, adds elements of Native flute and vocal sounds while infusing Reiki into the gongs for added healing. \nThe Keeper’s House Museum will be open for after-hours tours featuring the lighthouse’s original Fresnel lens constructed in 1894 in Paris\, France. The lighthouse gift shop will offer a variety of unique nautical gifts and souvenirs\, and the Beacon Bistro will have delicious baked goodies\, popcorn\, hot chocolate\, and s’more kits available by donation. A glowing bonfire will create a perfect atmosphere for folks to kick back\, relax and enjoy the evening. As the sky shifts from watercolor hues to deep evening blues\, visitors are welcome to bring a chair and unwind on the lighthouse grounds. \nVisitors seeking an unforgettable experience can enjoy twilight tower climbs to the top of the tallest lighthouse on the Forgotten Coast. From the top\, climbers will be treated to panoramic views of St. George Sound\, Carrabelle Beach and the beautiful colors of the evening sky. Climb reservations are encouraged. Cheryl organizes a weekly plein air painting group and teaches watercolor classes. She has been involved with the Forgotten Coast en Plein Air event for the past ten years\, including as a Florida’s Finest Ambassador artist\, residency artist and past board member and event chair. Tower climbs\, the Keeper’s House Museum with the 1894 Fresnel Lens\, and delicious food will be available throughout the day. Admission is free. Admission and climb tickets are available online or in the gift shop. \nThe Country “Super” Market will feature regional arts and crafts\, coastal décor\, jewelry\, bags\, organic produce and eggs\, grass-fed beef\, locally roasted coffee\, hot sauces\, soaps\, candles\, balms\, local books\, tumblers\, and baked treats such as artisan breads\, cinnamon rolls\, cookies\, and candied nuts. From 10 am–2 pm\, the car show will highlight classic\, vintage\, and custom vehicles with prizes and People’s Choice Awards\, with participants from groups including the Forgotten Coast Cruisers and the Antique Automobile Club of America. The Waterbirds will perform aboard the Pirate Ship stage from 2-4 pm\, bringing a lively mix of reggae\, folk\, jazz\, rock\, blues\, and original music. Delicious food will be available from Mamaw’s Fresh Catch and LINK Sausage & Beer. \nThe Carrabelle Artist Association will offer a Fish and Nature Printing activity where participants can create nautical or nature-inspired artwork on rice paper\, tea towels\, or personal items. Visitors can enjoy the natural surroundings as the golden sun sets\, the Cold Moon rises\, and one of the longest nights of the year unfolds. \nPowerful musical duo\, Blues Meets Girl\, is a collaboration of British Blues veteran Mr. Downchild and Texas born singer/songwriter Kasimira Vogel. These two bold artists weave their separate influences together to create down-home\, smokin’\, sexy blues music at its best. Listeners can feel and relate to the soulful and passionate songs\, as well as their unique renditions of the classics by Muddy Waters\, Etta James\, Big Mama Thorton\, Elmore James and more. Blues Meets Girl is bona fide Blues thru and thru. \nVisitors can tour the Keeper’s House Museum and see the original\, historic Fresnel lens constructed in 1894 in Paris\, France. The lighthouse gift shop will also be offering unique nautical gifts and souvenirs. This special evening kicks off early with a roundtable discussion on the importance of predators to the area ecosystem at 5:00 pm ET\, a fascinating pre-event. From 6:00-8:00 pm ET\, visitors can enjoy the main event beneath the beautiful Wolf Moon\, named for the wolves that are more likely to be heard howling during the cold\, harsh winter months when food is scarce. Visitors can enjoy the gorgeous natural surroundings of St. George Sound and Carrabelle Beach as the golden sun sets below the horizon and the Wolf Moon rises. \nVisitors can enjoy an after-hours tour of the Keeper’s House Museum and see the exhibit of the lighthouse’s original\, historic Fresnel lens constructed in 1894 in Paris\, France. Guests can browse the unique nautical gifts and souvenirs in the gift shop. Visitors can gather around the glowing Wolf Moon bonfire\, complete with spirited howling and lighthearted activities designed to bring out a sense of youthful fun while maintaining respect for the surroundings. \nFor those brave souls who are seeking even more adventure\, evening tower climbs to the top of the tallest lighthouse on the Forgotten Coast are available. Evening climbs are scheduled at 15-minute intervals throughout the event. Climbers will be rewarded with breathtaking views of St. George Sounds\, Dog Island and Carrabelle Beach. Evening climbs cost $10 and climb reservations are strongly encouraged due to limited availability. Climbers must be at least 44 inches tall and children under 12 (FREE) with ticketed adults. DESCRIPTION:Lantern Fest will be celebrated on Saturday\, November 8\, 2025 from 6-10 pm ET at Crooked River Lighthouse Park\, 1975 Hwy 98 W\, Carrabelle\, FL. This unique\, outdoor festival\, best known for its awesome display of over a hundred colorful\, hanging lanterns\, lights up the night with magic and history at the 1895 maritime landmark. Special activities include amazing music and Bluegrass harmonies by the Bottom Dollar Boys and spectacular glow-in-the-dark performances from the Tallahassee State College Dance Company. Festival-goers can also enjoy special evening tower climbs\, ancient craft demonstrations\, enchanting glowing lantern displays\, museum exhibits\, and delicious food and desserts. \nCrooked River Lighthouse is excited to announce the return of the remarkably gifted and entertaining musical group\, the Bottom Dollar Boys. This group has been delighting audiences for over 40 years\, with traditional Bluegrass harmonies and mighty fine pickin’. They’ve been toilin’ in the fields of Bluegrass\, Old Country\, Gospel\, Americana with a pinch of Blues. Now they will be performing their energetic tunes under the glow of over a hundred hanging lanterns. In addition\, the talented Tallahassee State College Dance Company will dazzle guests with their superb choreography\, amazing talent and imaginative use of glow-in-the-dark props and illusions. \nOver a hundred colorful\, hanging lanterns will be on display throughout the grounds of the lighthouse park. Many of these lanterns are truly works of art and have been painstakingly hand-made by the incredible Joan Matey and other gifted local artists. John Pfund and Chris Cauthen will set up the blacksmith forge and Ken Horne will weave rope from local plant fibers as the two ancient crafts demonstrations. Delicious food will be available for purchase from a couple of food trucks and desserts from the Beacon Bistro. Plus guests will enjoy keeper’s tales\, lighthouse museum and gift shop\, Fresnel lens exhibit\, wandering Lantern Ladies and the Giant Moth. \nAll are invited to come revel in this unique birthday party as the Crooked River Lighthouse turns 130 years old! DESCRIPTION:The Crooked River Lighthouse will be hosting Twilight at the Tower on Sunday\, October 5 from 7:00-9:00 pm ET in Carrabelle\, FL. This special after-hours event invites visitors to enjoy the gorgeous natural surroundings of St. George Sound and Carrabelle Beach as the golden sun sets below the horizon and the Hunter’s Moon or Harvest Moon rises. \nVisitors can tour the Keeper’s House Museum and see the original\, historic Fresnel lens constructed in 1894 in Paris\, France. The lighthouse gift shop will also be offering unique nautical gifts and souvenirs. Guests are welcome to bring a chair and relax on the grounds as the color of the sky goes from watercolor hues to evening blues and the first evening star appears. \nThis month’s moon is traditionally known as the Hunter’s Moon. This year it is also the Harvest Moon. It is called the Hunter’s Moon because “this is the month when game is fattening up for winter. Now is the time for hunting and laying in a store of provisions for the long months ahead. The full Moon that happens nearest to the fall equinox (September 22 or 23) always takes on the name “Harvest Moon.” Unlike other full Moons\, this full Moon rises at nearly the same time—around sunset—for several evenings in a row\, giving farmers several extra evenings of moonlight and allowing them to finish their harvests before the frosts of fall arrive.” (Credit: The Old Farmer’s Almanac). \nThose who wish to climb to the top of the tallest lighthouse on the Forgotten Coast can take part in twilight tower climbs. DESCRIPTION:The Crooked River Lighthouse will be hosting a special evening event\, Coastal Twilight at the Tower\, on Wednesday\, July 9 from 8:00-10:00 pm ET in Carrabelle\, FL. Festivities include live music by Tristan Shiver\, plus after-hour museum tours and evening tower climbs. Visitors can enjoy the gorgeous natural surroundings of St. George Sound and Carrabelle Beach under the golden glow of the setting sun and rising Buck Moon. Donations are warmly welcome. \nLocal favorite Tristan Shiver of the band Cheap Sunglasses will be performing live aboard the Pirate Ship stage for this special evening event. With guitar and vocals\, he’ll bring a mix of country\, classic rock\, oldies\, and blues. Guests can expect a night filled with fantastic music and full moon magic. Attendees are welcome to bring a chair and relax under the evening sky. \nVisitors can experience an after-hours tour of the Keeper’s House Museum and see the original\, historic Fresnel lens constructed in 1894 in Paris\, France. Guests can browse the unique nautical gifts and souvenirs in the gift shop. \nThose who wish to climb to the top of the tallest lighthouse on the Forgotten Coast can take part in evening tower climbs. From the top\, climbers will be rewarded with breathtaking panoramic views of the bay\, the colors of the sunset\, and the glow of the rising moon. Evening climbs cost $10 and are scheduled at 15-minute intervals throughout the event. Due to limited availability\, climb reservations are strongly encouraged. Climbers must be at least 44 inches tall. Children under 12 climb free with ticketed adults. Advance tickets can be purchased in the lighthouse gift shop or online. \nThe full Moon in July is called the Buck Moon because the antlers of male deer (bucks) are in full-growth mode at this time.
