SUMMARY:Celebrate Twilight at the Tower at Crooked River Lighthouse
DESCRIPTION:The Crooked River Lighthouse invites visitors to Twilight at the Tower on Saturday October 24 from 7:00-9:00 pm ET in Carrabelle\, FL. This relaxing evening event offers after-hours museum visits\, gift shop browsing\, twilight tower climbs\, and the peaceful natural surroundings of St. George Sound and Carrabelle Beach as evening falls. Admission is free. Evening climbs are $6 for the public\, free for current members and free for kids 12 and under with a ticketed adult. \nThe Keeper’s House Museum will be open for special evening hours\, featuring the lighthouse’s original Fourth Order Fresnel lens\, constructed in Paris\, France\, in 1894. Visitors can also browse the lighthouse gift shop for unique nautical gifts and souvenirs. The Beacon Bistro will offer baked goodies\, popcorn\, and refreshments by donation. Guests are encouraged to kick back\, relax on the lighthouse grounds\, and enjoy a delightful evening beneath the summer sky as the Harvest Moon rises over the Forgotten Coast. \nFor those looking for an unforgettable view\, twilight tower climbs provide a chance to experience the tallest lighthouse on the Forgotten Coast from the top. Climbers can take in panoramic views of St. George Sound\, Carrabelle Beach\, and the beautiful colors of the horizon as dusk settles over the coast. \nAdvance climb tickets are encouraged. Evening climbs are scheduled at 15-minute intervals and all climbers must be at least 44 inches tall. Climb tickets and additional details are available in the gift shop or online.

SUMMARY:Magical Jellyfish Lantern-Making Workshop
DESCRIPTION:In celebration of Lantern Fest\, the Crooked River Lighthouse is hosting a Jellyfish Lantern Making Workshop on Friday\, November 13 from 12-4 pm ET at the Lanark Boat Club at 2364 Hwy 98 East\, Lanark Village\, FL. This fun\, hands-on workshop offers participants a chance to create their own whimsical\, glowing jellyfish lanterns\, a favorite at Lantern Fest. \nLed by volunteer Lisa Keith-Lucas\, the workshop will guide participants through making these enchanting jellyfish lanterns. All basic materials\, instruction\, and hands-on assistance will be provided for $10 per person. Participants are also welcome to bring additional materials – ribbons\, beads\, tulle\, or other decorative materials – to further personalize their creations. \nAt the end of the workshop\, attendees will leave with a unique\, handcrafted jellyfish lantern to enjoy at home or bring to Lantern Fest at the Crooked River Lighthouse on Saturday\, November 14\, from 6 to 10 p.m. ET. The lanterns will add to the festival’s magical nighttime display. \nSpaces are limited. Reservations are required to participate in this workshop. SUMMARY:Traditional Filipino Star Lantern-Making Workshop
DESCRIPTION:In celebration of Lantern Fest\, the Crooked River Lighthouse is pleased to present a Lantern Making Workshop in partnership with the Asian Coalition of Tallahassee. The workshop will take place on Saturday\, November 7 from 2 – 6 pm ET at  Chillas Hall\, 156 Heffernan Drive\, Lanark Village\, FL. Participants will have the opportunity to create their own beautiful lanterns while exploring a traditional art form. \nLed by Aurora Hansen and members of the Asian Coalition of Tallahassee\, this hands-on workshop introduces participants to traditional Filipino Parols\, beautiful\, three-dimensional star lanterns featured at Lantern Fest. Participants will learn techniques for creating bamboo lantern frames to make any kind of lantern and receive a preassembled traditional Filipino 3D star frame to decorate and personalize during the workshop. \nAll materials\, instruction\, and hands-on assistance will be provided. The cost is $20 per person to cover materials\, including a variety of papers\, fabrics\, ribbons\, tassels\, and more. Participants are also welcome to bring their own creative materials to personalize their lanterns even more. As an added treat\, guests can enjoy delicious Filipino and Asian food\, adding an extra taste of culture to the afternoon. Attendees will leave with their own unique\, handcrafted lantern. \nParticipants are encouraged to bring their glowing creations back for Lantern Fest at the Crooked River Lighthouse on Saturday\, November 14 from 6-10 pm\, where the lanterns will add to the festival’s spectacular display. \nSpace is limited. SUMMARY:Lantern Fest
DESCRIPTION:Lantern Fest will be celebrated  at Crooked River Lighthouse Park\, 1975 Hwy 98 W\, Carrabelle\, FL. This unique\, outdoor festival\, best known for its awesome display of over a hundred colorful\, hanging lanterns\, lights up the night with magic and history at the 1895 maritime landmark. Special activities include amazing music and Bluegrass harmonies by the Bottom Dollar Boys and spectacular glow-in-the-dark performances from the Tallahassee State College Dance Company. Festival-goers can also enjoy special evening tower climbs\, ancient craft demonstrations\, enchanting glowing lantern displays\, museum exhibits\, and delicious food and desserts. \nCrooked River Lighthouse is excited to announce the return of the remarkably gifted and entertaining musical group\, the Bottom Dollar Boys. This group has been delighting audiences for over 40 years\, with traditional Bluegrass harmonies and mighty fine pickin’. They’ve been toilin’ in the fields of Bluegrass\, Old Country\, Gospel\, Americana with a pinch of Blues. Now they will be performing their energetic tunes under the glow of over a hundred hanging lanterns. In addition\, the talented Tallahassee State College Dance Company will dazzle guests with their superb choreography\, amazing talent and imaginative use of glow-in-the-dark props and illusions. \nOver a hundred colorful\, hanging lanterns will be on display throughout the grounds of the lighthouse park. Many of these lanterns are truly works of art and have been painstakingly hand-made by the incredible Joan Matey and other gifted local artists. John Pfund and Chris Cauthen will set up the blacksmith forge and Ken Horne will weave rope from local plant fibers as the two ancient crafts demonstrations. Delicious food will be available for purchase from a couple of food trucks and desserts from the Beacon Bistro. Plus guests will enjoy keeper’s tales\, lighthouse museum and gift shop\, Fresnel lens exhibit\, wandering Lantern Ladies and the Giant Moth. \nAll are invited to come revel in this unique birthday party as the Crooked River Lighthouse turns 130 years old  with music\, dance\, night tower climbs\, glowing lanterns and yummy food. Advance tickets are recommended. Tickets\, for those 13 and up\, are $15 in advance and $20 at the gate. Admission is free for kids 12 and under. Local residents can receive a discount on advance tickets purchased in person. Details and tickets are available online or at the lighthouse gift shop.
