From thrift-store worthy scores to high-end antiques\, all are invited to bring their much loved treasures to the market to find them a new home. The market welcomes a diversity of products such as home décor\, furniture\, vintage jewelry\, music\, antiques\, tools\, ceramics and kitchenware\, books\, art\, toys\, and gently used clothing. Items just need to be clean and in good condition. \nThe open-air Country Market will\, as always\, feature local vendors with gifts and goodies like farm fresh produce\, grass fed beef\, delicious baked goods including cinnamon rolls\, artisan breads\, and cookies\, plus batch roasted coffee\, gorgeous art\, handcrafted balms and soaps\, and handmade goods and craft items. \nGuests can also visit the free Keeper’s House Museum to see the brand new exhibit featuring the historic Fresnel lens and browse inside the Lighthouse Gift Shop for unique\, nautical-themed art\, jewelry and souvenirs. DESCRIPTION:The St. George Lighthouse Association (SGLA) is honored to announce that it will be celebrating its 15th Anniversary of the SGI Lighthouse Reconstruction on December 16\, 2023\, from 5:30pm – 7:30pm in Lighthouse Park. This milestone event is dedicated to all the people and organizations\, local and abroad\, that donated their time\, hard work\, and funds to rebuild our lighthouse and restore it to its original splendor. We will offer free lighthouse climbs all day and there will be an evening celebration. \nThe evening affair will feature a short ceremony of keynote speakers\, Carol Talley\, lighthouse historian and former gift shop manager\, Teri Kemp\, Retired SGLA Officer and Board Member\, SGLA Board President Chuck Lombardo\, and Amy Hodson\, St. George Lighthouse Association Executive Director. Following the ceremony\, there will be a reception\, with hors d’oeuvres and refreshments. The evening will culminate with an amazing laser light show celebrating 15 years since the reconstruction. \nIn conjunction with our celebration\, we have launched a 15th Anniversary fundraising campaign to raise $15\,000. This campaign will have a transformative impact on our ability to maintain and improve our beautiful lighthouse\, museum and gift shop\, as well as expand our services. Help us raise 15K for 15 years and keep our light shining bright! Donate today at our donation website by clicking here. \nWe hope you will join us to celebrate this milestone for our lighthouse and the herculean effort by so many to restore the lighthouse to its former glory as a beacon to all that visit St. George Island. SUMMARY:Blues and BBQ under the Full Moon at Crooked River Lighthouse
DESCRIPTION:The Crooked River Lighthouse will be hosting a special Blues & BBQ Full Moon event on Tuesday\, December 26 from 6-8 pm in Carrabelle\, FL. This special outdoor event will feature live Blues music\, a glowing bonfire at the fire pit\, and a delicious BBQ meal. Visitors can enjoy this opportunity to see the gorgeous natural surroundings of the St. George Sound and Carrabelle Beach under the evening sky. Live music will be provided by the musical duo\, “Blues Meets Girl”. \nPowerful musical duo\, Blues Meets Girl\, is a collaboration of British Blues veteran Mr. Downchild and Texas born singer/songwriter Kasimira. These two bold artists weave their separate influences and experiences together to create down-home\, smokin’\, sexy blues music at its best. Listeners can feel and relate to the soulful and passionate songs they write for and about each other\, as well as their unique renditions of the classics by Muddy Waters\, Etta James\, Big Mama Thorton\, Elmore James and Sonny Boy Williams. Blues Meets Girl is bonafide Blues thru and thru. \nVisitors can also browse the Keeper’s House Museum after hours and see the lighthouse’s original\, historic Fresnel lens manufactured in France in 1894. The gift shop will be open for  shopping. Guests may enjoy the glowing bonfire in the park (weather permitting). Bring a chair and enjoy the evening. \nTickets are $17 if purchased by December 18 or $20 after (if available) and include live music\, bonfire\, a delicious BBQ plate\, and museum access. (Climbs are not included in this price.) Tickets are available in the gift shop or online. \nAt the Full Moon event\, evening climbs are also available for those brave souls who are bold enough to venture to the top of the tallest Forgotten Coast lighthouse. Climbers will be rewarded with breathtaking views of the bay. Evening climbs cost $10. All climbers must be at least 44 inches tall. There will be a time limit for viewing from the top. Timed tower climb tickets are required for those who wish to climb the lighthouse tower during this event. Tickets are available online or by dropping by our gift shop. Advance purchase is strongly suggested as slots may sell out.

DESCRIPTION:The December Sunset and Full Moon Climb at the Cape St. George Lighthouse on St. George Island will be held on Wednesday\, December 27\, 2023.  Visitors can enjoy this opportunity to view St. George Island\, the Gulf of Mexico and the Apalachicola bay under the evening sky.   \nThe Sunset and Full Moon Climb will begin at 5:30 p.m. and run until 7:30 p.m.  Fifteen-minute time slots will be allotted for each group on a first come\, first served basis. No advanced reservations will be taken.  You will purchase your tickets in the gift shop and then sign up for your 15-minute time slot with the lighthouse keeper. Up to 12 persons allowed in each 15-minute time slot. The gift shop will be open at 5:00 p.m. to begin selling tickets. \nCost is $10.00 per climber for the general public and $7.00 for members of the St. George Lighthouse Association. Cash or credit card payments accepted. All climbers must be at least 40 inches tall to climb the tower and children must be age 13 and over to access the outside catwalk.  For more information\, please contact the Lighthouse Gift Shop at 850-927-7745. \nThe sun will set at 5:43 p.m. and the “Cold” moon will rise at 6:19 p.m. on December 27th. The December full moon is called the Cold moon for obvious reasons: winter is about to arrive and temperatures are dropping.  It’s getting cold!  Full Moon names are attributable to Native American tribes\, most notably the Algonquin\, who named the moons to mark the changing seasons.   \nThe Cape St. George Light is located in St. George Lighthouse Park at the center of St. George Island\, where Island Drive (the road off the bridge) ends at Gulf Beach Drive.  Parking is available in lots at either side of the park.

Items just need to be clean and in good condition. \nThe open-air Country Market will\, as always\, feature local vendors with gifts and goodies like farm fresh produce\, grass fed beef\, delicious baked goods including cinnamon rolls\, artisan breads\, and cookies\, plus batch roasted coffee\, gorgeous art\, handcrafted balms and soaps\, and handmade goods and craft items. \nGuests can also visit the free Keeper’s House Museum to see the brand new exhibit featuring the historic Fresnel lens and browse inside the Lighthouse Gift Shop for unique\, nautical-themed art\, jewelry and souvenirs. SUMMARY:Special Exhibit: The Battle of Hurtgen Forest & The Battle of the Bulge
DESCRIPTION:Camp Gordon Johnston WWII Museum in Carrabelle is presenting a special exhibit in the month of January. The focus of the exhibit will be on the Battle of Hürtgen Forest and the Battle of the Bulge from the 4th Infantry Division perspective.  This exhibit will open Tuesday\, January 2 and be on display until Saturday\, January 27.  The museum is open every Tuesday through Saturday from 11 am to 5 pm and there is no charge for admission. \nThe longest continuous battle ever fought by American forces lasted from September 19 to December 16\, 1944 over control of the Hürtgen Forest\, essential to the German plans for their upcoming Ardennes Offensive (which would be known to the Allies as the “Battle of the Bulge”). This small patch of land\, 54 square miles located three miles east of the Germany / Belgium Border\, would end up being extremely costly to the Allies despite a five to one advantage. This battle was somewhat forgotten because of the more famous Battle of the Bulge but it was a bloody and memorable experience for those that fought there. \nCamp Gordon Johnston WWII Museum will present these two campaigns from the perspective of the 4th Infantry Division\, also known as the Ivy Division\, which received their amphibious training at Camp Gordon Johnston and landed on D Day at Utah Beach. The Museum has received both financial and historical assistance from the National 4th Infantry Division Association and Division Past President and Historian Bob Babcock. Photos and personal memoirs of soldiers who participated in these two battles will be featured.

Guests will also enjoy the outstanding original art of Pat Moore\, Barb Ryan\, Roger Leonard\, William Owen\, and Joe Kotzman. \nMOON JAZZ is an artistic testament to celestial rhythms\, capturing the ethereal dance of time\, light\, and lunar majesty. The images harmonize with the Major Lunar Standstill—a rare event initiating an 18-year cycle of lunar ascent and retreat\, akin to the ebb and flow of musical notes. \nBo May orchestrated this cosmic jam session with extended time exposures\, diverse shutter speeds\, and camera movements\, akin to a jazz musician experimenting with tempos and rhythms. The MOON JAZZ series was composed at McKissack Beach in Carrabelle. A narrative unfolds through the lens\, revealing a progression from “expressionistic” spontaneity to intentional control.

This tour is not recommended for people with mobility issues.

Your ghostly guide will tell you local ghost stories all while using real ghost hunting equipment to see if any spirits are still around. Select tour goers and volunteers will get to use EMF detectors\, and other ghost hunting equipment at select locations on the tour. Bring your positive energy and let’s try to say “hello” to the ghosts of Apalachicola. The tour will begin in front of the Chamber of Commerce which is located at 17 Avenue E next to the Dixie Theatre and may last up to 90-minutes.
