SUMMARY:November Full Moon Climb at Crooked River Lighthouse
DESCRIPTION:The Crooked River Lighthouse will be hosting a fun Full Moon Event on Monday\, November 27\, from 6:00-8:00 pm in Carrabelle\, FL. Visitors can enjoy the gorgeous natural surroundings of St. George Sound and Carrabelle Beach under the glow of the full Beaver Moon. \nAt this month’s Full Moon event\, the Crooked River Lighthouse will have a gifted musical group\, The Bog Lilies. The Bog Lilies are a talented group of performers who focus on vocal harmonies mixed with a unique blend of instruments including banjo\, mandolin\, acoustic guitar\, electric guitar\, and cajone (a wood percussion instrument). They cover songs in folk\, bluegrass\, country\, and southern rock genres. \nVisitors can also have an after-hours visit in the Keeper’s House Museum and see the exhibit for the lighthouse’s original\, historic Fresnel lens. A Train Stop food truck will be set up with delicious food for purchase. Guests may also enjoy the glowing bonfire in the park (weather permitting). Bring a chair and enjoy the evening. Recommended donation for this event is $5 to support the lighthouse and help offset the additional costs for these after-hours events and can be made either via online or at “the gate”. \nAt the Full Moon event\, evening climbs are also available for those brave souls who are bold enough to venture to the top of the tallest Forgotten Coast lighthouse. Climbers will be rewarded with breathtaking views of the bay. Evening climbs cost $10. All climbers must be at least 44 inches tall. There will be a time limit for viewing from the top. Timed tower climb tickets are required for those who wish to climb the lighthouse tower during this event. Timed tickets are available online or by dropping by our gift shop. Advance ticket purchase is strongly suggested as slots may sell out.

DESCRIPTION:The Gallery at Rio Carrabelle is thrilled to present an art exhibition featuring the work of talented painter\, Cal Allen in the historic art venue\, Rio Carrabelle in Carrabelle\, Florida. These beautiful works of art are on display now and the exhibition will run through the end of November.  \nCal has expressed his southern heritage through his art for over 60 years. His attention to the details of the coast and his love of nature co-mingle to produce his naturalistic approach. From the lighthouses of North Carolina’s outer banks\, the marshes of coastal Georgia\, and the mudflats of Northwest Florida’s Gulf Coast comes the inspiration for much of Cal’s work. \nCal is proficient in oils and watercolors but prefers working in egg tempera. He processes many pigments from local sources. Although primarily self-taught\, Cal has studied the works of the great masters as well as more contemporary artists such as Eakins\, Homer and Wyeth. Inspired by these renowned artists\, he has created his own methods to share his unique view of the world. Cal has received numerous awards and recognitions\, and his works hang in both private and corporate collections throughout this country and England. Cal also enjoys sharing his craft and vision and has taught classes in watercolor\, oil\, acrylic\, and egg tempera in Carrabelle\, Florida. \nRio Carrabelle Art Gallery is open Thursdays- Saturdays from 10 am -3 pm at 102 St. James Avenue (US Hwy 98)\, Carrabelle\, Florida. Guests will also enjoy the outstanding original art of Pat Moore\, Barb Ryan\, Roger Leonard\, William Owen\, and Joe Kotzman. \nMOON JAZZ is an artistic testament to celestial rhythms\, capturing the ethereal dance of time\, light\, and lunar majesty. The images harmonize with the Major Lunar Standstill—a rare event initiating an 18-year cycle of lunar ascent and retreat\, akin to the ebb and flow of musical notes. This occurrence presents a distinctive chance to document a celestial cycle and become intertwined with the rhythm of the universe. Composed on December 14\, 2005\, at McKissack Beach in Carrabelle\, FL\, the Moon Jazz images are a chronicle of a celestial ballet. \nEmploying extended time exposures and diverse shutter speeds\, often with nuanced camera movements\, the Moon Jazz series captures the essence of that luminous night. A narrative unfolds through the lens\, revealing a progression from “expressionistic” spontaneity to intentional control. Bo May orchestrated this cosmic jam session with extended time exposures\, diverse shutter speeds\, and camera movements\, akin to a jazz musician experimenting with tempos and rhythms. Noteworthy among the compositions is “Fibonacci Pirouettes\,” intricate moon spirals that defy the constraints of the night sky. \nThe exploration of light\, motion\, and improvisation is an ongoing odyssey for Bo May. Bo invites guests to witness this visual voyage at the Rio Carrabelle Gallery\, where Moon Jazz transcends the boundaries of time and space\, resonating with the eternal cadence of celestial harmony. This milestone event is dedicated to all the people and organizations\, local and abroad\, that donated their time\, hard work\, and funds to rebuild our lighthouse and restore it to its original splendor. We will offer free lighthouse climbs all day and there will be an evening celebration. \nThe evening affair will feature a short ceremony of keynote speakers\, Carol Talley\, lighthouse historian and former gift shop manager\, Teri Kemp\, Retired SGLA Officer and Board Member\, SGLA Board President Chuck Lombardo\, and Amy Hodson\, St. George Lighthouse Association Executive Director. Following the ceremony\, there will be a reception\, with hors d’oeuvres and refreshments. The evening will culminate with an amazing laser light show celebrating 15 years since the reconstruction. \nIn conjunction with our celebration\, we have launched a 15th Anniversary fundraising campaign to raise $15\,000. This campaign will have a transformative impact on our ability to maintain and improve our beautiful lighthouse\, museum and gift shop\, as well as expand our services. Help us raise 15K for 15 years and keep our light shining bright! SUMMARY:Blues and BBQ under the Full Moon at Crooked River Lighthouse
DESCRIPTION:The Crooked River Lighthouse will be hosting a special Blues & BBQ Full Moon event on Tuesday\, December 26 from 6-8 pm in Carrabelle\, FL. This special outdoor event will feature live Blues music\, a glowing bonfire at the fire pit\, and a delicious BBQ meal. Visitors can enjoy this opportunity to see the gorgeous natural surroundings of the St. George Sound and Carrabelle Beach under the evening sky. Live music will be provided by the musical duo\, “Blues Meets Girl”. \nPowerful musical duo\, Blues Meets Girl\, is a collaboration of British Blues veteran Mr. Downchild and Texas born singer/songwriter Kasimira. These two bold artists weave their separate influences and experiences together to create down-home\, smokin’\, sexy blues music at its best. Listeners can feel and relate to the soulful and passionate songs they write for and about each other\, as well as their unique renditions of the classics by Muddy Waters\, Etta James\, Big Mama Thorton\, Elmore James and Sonny Boy Williams. Blues Meets Girl is bonafide Blues thru and thru. \nVisitors can also browse the Keeper’s House Museum after hours and see the lighthouse’s original\, historic Fresnel lens manufactured in France in 1894. The gift shop will be open for  shopping. Guests may enjoy the glowing bonfire in the park (weather permitting). Bring a chair and enjoy the evening. \nTickets are $17 if purchased by December 18 or $20 after (if available) and include live music\, bonfire\, a delicious BBQ plate\, and museum access. (Climbs are not included in this price.) Tickets are available in the gift shop or online. \nAt the Full Moon event\, evening climbs are also available for those brave souls who are bold enough to venture to the top of the tallest Forgotten Coast lighthouse. Climbers will be rewarded with breathtaking views of the bay. Evening climbs cost $10. All climbers must be at least 44 inches tall. There will be a time limit for viewing from the top. Timed tower climb tickets are required for those who wish to climb the lighthouse tower during this event. Tickets are available online or by dropping by our gift shop. Advance purchase is strongly suggested as slots may sell out.
