SUMMARY:Art Exhibition for talented artist\, Cyndi Thau
DESCRIPTION:The Gallery at Rio Carrabelle is excited to present a delightful art exhibition featuring the art of the talented Cyndi Thau in the historic art venue\, Rio Carrabelle in Carrabelle\, Florida. Cyndi’s art has been called colorful\, inspiring\, and welcoming. Color\, form and light are the ingredients of these paintings. Her personal creations have included murals\, mosaics\, bead work and painting\, especially oil painting with a glazing technique\, becoming an instructor of this method. “I am fascinated by the forms\, colors\, depth and play of light and shadow that interact in the painting. I use thin layer upon layer of oil paint to achieve the translucency that I associate with all the things in nature.” \nIn recent years Cyndi studied the Plein Air style\, painting from direct observation. Water\, in specific the creek and ocean\, are her favorite subjects. “I love translating the movement of water onto canvas. Always flowing\, never still\, the reflection of light on and through water are both a challenge and a delight to capture”. \nCyndi resides along Florida’s Forgotten Coast where she walks the gulf coast beaches to collect shells that she uses for centerpieces in her bead work\, and continues to paint the water she so loves. Dividing her time between the studio glazing technique and painting outdoors en plein air Cyndi continues to create oil paintings with the depth and translucency she is known for. \nRio Carrabelle Art Gallery is open for new Summer Hours on Thursday-Saturdays from 10 am -3 pm at 102 St. James Avenue (US Hwy 98)\, Carrabelle\, Florida. SUMMARY:Drum Ceremony and Full Moon Event at Crooked River Lighthouse
DESCRIPTION:The Crooked River Lighthouse will be hosting a Full Moon Event and Sacred Drum Ceremony on Friday\, September 29\, from 8-10 pm in Carrabelle\, FL. Visitors can enjoy this opportunity to see the gorgeous natural surroundings of the St. George Sound and Carrabelle Beach under the glow of the full Harvest Moon or Corn Moon. Paul Eagleheart McGee from the Lipan Apache Tribe will be conducting a Native American drum ceremony during the event. \nIn honor of the Harvest or Corn Moon\, the lighthouse will be hosting an informal drumming circle during this event. Anyone that has a drum is welcome to bring it and join in. The Harvest Moon is the full moon nearest the start of fall or the autumnal equinox. This full moon name is attributed to Native Americans because it marked when corn and other crops were harvested. \nIn addition to the informal drum circle\, Paul Eagleheart McGee from the Lipan Apache Tribe of Texas will be joining this event. He will be doing a sacred\, Native American drum ceremony in honor of the full moon. Paul Eagleheart McGee has done many ceremonies for causes including protection of sacred sites. He will begin the ceremony with a prayer song and will be explaining several Native American traditions. \nVisitors can also have an after-hours visit of the Keeper’s House Museum and see the new exhibit for the lighthouse’s original\, historic Fresnel lens. Guests may also enjoy the glowing bonfire in the park (weather permitting). Bring a chair and enjoy the evening. Recommended donation for this event is $5 to support the lighthouse and help offset the additional costs for these after-hours events and can be made either online or at “the gate”. \nWhile at the Full Moon event\, evening climbs are also available for those brave souls who are bold enough to venture to the top of the tallest Forgotten Coast lighthouse. Climbers will be rewarded with breathtaking views of the bay. Evening climbs cost $10 for adults (age 13+)\, $5 for youth (6-12 yrs) and are free for those 5 and under. All climbers must be at least 44 inches tall. Timed tower climb tickets are required for those who wish to climb the lighthouse tower during this event. Timed tickets are available online or by dropping by our gift shop. Advance ticket purchase is strongly suggested as these tickets may sell out. \nA limited number of climbers (max of 8) are allowed at one time. There will be a time limit for viewing from the top. Guests who would like a more leisurely climbing experience are welcome to enjoy one of the daytime climbs available every Wednesday through Sunday. Masks are welcome but not required.

SUMMARY:Bay Fest 2023
DESCRIPTION:The 2023 Tate’s Hell 5k will be bigger and better than ever this year! The 5k will start at 8 am\, followed by Kids Fun Run at 10 am. This year\, Bay Fest will be a 3-DAY event. \nThe tentative schedule includes:\nFriday\, October 6: Charity Golf Tournament ⛳️\nSaturday\, October 7: Tate’s Hell 5k 🏃‍♀️\, Kids Bike Safety Rodeo 🚲\, Tate’s historical reading and Lookalike Contest 👨🏼‍🌾🐖 and other FREE kids activities\nSunday\, October 8: Charity Pickleball Tournament 🏓 \nAll proceeds will benefit our NEW community partners\, our friends at AARON MEALS 🍽️ a group dedicated to buying meals from local independent food providers (restaurants or food trucks) for teams of volunteers to deliver to those in need in their community. “At the heart of the origin story is Aaron. Aaron Wilkerson was a talented chef and food truck owner with a passion for helping those in need. He lived to cook because he loved seeing people’s faces light up with a smile when they tasted his delicious creations. He loved to put his talent to work for those in need because he knew that for those who have very little\, a warm meal didn’t just fill their belly but fed their soul. Sadly\, Aaron left us before his time. His final wish was that his food truck and all his cooking equipment be put to use in a way that would make someone’s life better and continue to make a difference.” \nYou can sign up for Tate’s Hell 5k at https://runsignup.com/Race/FL/Carrabelle/TatesHell5k. \nCharity Pickleball Tournament details and sign up info is at https://www.facebook.com/groups/5009789755712090.

SUMMARY:Art Exhibition for Talented Painter\, Cal Allen
DESCRIPTION:The Gallery at Rio Carrabelle is thrilled to present an art exhibition featuring the work of talented painter\, Cal Allen in the historic art venue\, Rio Carrabelle in Carrabelle\, Florida. These beautiful works of art are on display now and the exhibition will run through the end of November. \nCal has expressed his southern heritage through his art for over 60 years. His attention to the details of the coast and his love of nature co-mingle to produce his naturalistic approach. From the lighthouses of North Carolina’s outer banks\, the marshes of coastal Georgia\, and the mudflats of Northwest Florida’s Gulf Coast comes the inspiration for much of Cal’s work. \nCal is proficient in oils and watercolors but prefers working in egg tempera. Inspired by these renowned artists\, he has created his own methods to share his unique view of the world. Cal has received numerous awards and recognitions\, and his works hang in both private and corporate collections throughout this country and England. Cal also enjoys sharing his craft and vision and has taught classes in watercolor\, oil\, acrylic\, and egg tempera in Carrabelle\, Florida. \nRio Carrabelle Art Gallery is open Thursdays- Saturdays from 10 am -3 pm at 102 St. James Avenue (US Hwy 98)\, Carrabelle\, Florida.
