Cyndi’s art has been called colorful\, inspiring\, and welcoming. Color\, form and light are the ingredients of these paintings. This beautiful art is on display now and the exhibition will run through the end of August. \nCyndi Thau has always wanted to keep art as a central focus of her life. She completed studies at Arizona State University. Her personal creations have included murals\, mosaics\, bead work and painting\, especially oil painting with a glazing technique\, becoming an instructor of this method. “I am fascinated by the forms\, colors\, depth and play of light and shadow that interact in the painting. I use thin layer upon layer of oil paint to achieve the translucency that I associate with all the things in nature.” \nIn recent years Cyndi studied the Plein Air style\, painting from direct observation. Water\, in specific the creek and ocean\, are her favorite subjects. “I love translating the movement of water onto canvas. Always flowing\, never still\, the reflection of light on and through water are both a challenge and a delight to capture”. \nCyndi resides along Florida’s Forgotten Coast where she walks the gulf coast beaches to collect shells that she uses for centerpieces in her bead work\, and continues to paint the water she so loves. I use thin layer upon layer of oil paint to achieve the translucency that I associate with all the things in nature.” \nIn recent years Cyndi studied the Plein Air style\, painting from direct observation. Water\, in specific the creek and ocean\, are her favorite subjects. “I love translating the movement of water onto canvas. Always flowing\, never still\, the reflection of light on and through water are both a challenge and a delight to capture”. \nCyndi resides along Florida’s Forgotten Coast where she walks the gulf coast beaches to collect shells that she uses for centerpieces in her bead work\, and continues to paint the water she so loves. SUMMARY:Special Exhibit: Battle of Midway and Doolittle's Raiders
DESCRIPTION:Camp Gordon Johnston WWII Museum in Carrabelle is presenting a special exhibit about the Battle of Midway and Doolittle’s Raiders. This exhibit will open Tuesday\, August 29 and will be on display at the museum until Saturday\, September 30. The museum is open every Tuesday through Saturday from 11 am to 5 pm. There is no charge for admission\, but donations are gladly accepted. \nThe Battle of Midway was the inflection point in the fortunes of the US and the Empire of Japan. The failures of US Intelligence in December of 1941 to anticipate the Pearl Harbor attack were replaced by the huge success in identifying Midway as Japan’s next target. The destruction of many of the Japanese ships that carried out the Pearl Harbor attack was a much needed boost for US morale. In addition\, this exhibit will cover how many of these ships have recently been discovered thanks to 21st century technology. Their power and menace are still visible in the images taken of them almost 80 years after their demise.

DESCRIPTION:Take a paranormal ghost tour of downtown Apalachicola and see if any ghosts still roam the streets. Your ghostly guide will tell you local ghost stories all while using real ghost hunting equipment to see if any spirits are still around. Select tour goers and volunteers will get to use EMF detectors\, and other ghost hunting equipment at select locations on the tour. Bring your positive energy and let’s try to say “hello” to the ghosts of Apalachicola. The tour will begin in front of the Chamber of Commerce which is located at 17 Avenue E next to the Dixie Theatre and may last up to 90-minutes. SUMMARY:Full Moon Lighthouse Climb at Crooked River Lighthouse
DESCRIPTION:The Crooked River Lighthouse will be hosting a Blue Moon Lighthouse Event on Wednesday\, August 30th from 8:00-10:00 pm in Carrabelle\, FL. Visitors can enjoy this opportunity to see the gorgeous natural surroundings of the St. George Sound and Carrabelle Beach under the glow of the rising Blue moon. \nWhile at Carrabelle’s lighthouse\, guests can also have an after-hours visit of the Keeper’s House Museum and see the new exhibit for the lighthouse’s original\, historic Fresnel lens. Visitors can browse the unique nautical gifts and souvenirs in the gift shop. Guests may also enjoy the glowing bonfire in the park (weather permitting). Bring a chair and enjoy the evening. \nThe climb to the top of the tallest Forgotten Coast lighthouse rewards bold climbers with breathtaking views of the bay. Cost is $8 for adults and $3 for kids. All climbers must be at least 44 inches tall. Advance reservations are required for those who wish to climb the lighthouse tower during this event by calling the Lighthouse gift shop. \nA limited number of climbers (max of 7) are allowed at one time. There will be a time limit for viewing from the top. Guests who would like a more leisurely climbing experience are welcome to enjoy one of the daytime climbs available every Wednesday through Sunday.

Cyndi’s art has been called colorful\, inspiring\, and welcoming. Color\, form and light are the ingredients of these paintings. This beautiful art is on display now and the exhibition will run through the end of August. \nCyndi Thau has always wanted to keep art as a central focus of her life. She completed studies at Arizona State University. Her personal creations have included murals\, mosaics\, bead work and painting\, especially oil painting with a glazing technique\, becoming an instructor of this method. “I am fascinated by the forms\, colors\, depth and play of light and shadow that interact in the painting. I use thin layer upon layer of oil paint to achieve the translucency that I associate with all the things in nature.” \nIn recent years Cyndi studied the Plein Air style\, painting from direct observation. Water\, in specific the creek and ocean\, are her favorite subjects. “I love translating the movement of water onto canvas. Always flowing\, never still\, the reflection of light on and through water are both a challenge and a delight to capture”. \nCyndi resides along Florida’s Forgotten Coast where she walks the gulf coast beaches to collect shells that she uses for centerpieces in her bead work\, and continues to paint the water she so loves.
