Currently\, lighthouse staff and volunteers are offering seeds and fresh herbs for sale during the markets. They are also selling hot-boiled peanuts. Fresh garden vegetables will be coming soon! \nThe fabulous singer/ songwriter\, Susan David\, will again be providing live music on the Keeper’s House’s front porch! \nAt 1:00 pm\, local herbalist Denise Williams will take visitors for a guided medicinal plant walk. Denise will lead guests for this 30-minute walk around the lighthouse’s grounds and explore its natural resources. The walk costs $5 and accepts a max of 10 people. \nGuests can also visit the free Museum and browse inside the Lighthouse Gift Shop for unique nautical gifts. Also\, shoppers have the unique opportunity to climb to the lighthouse’s top for a breathtaking view of the Bay. \nNew and returning vendors are always welcome. The cost to be a vendor is $10. SUMMARY:Full Moon Climb
DESCRIPTION:The Crooked River Lighthouse will be hosting a Full Moon Lighthouse Climb on Tuesday\, April 27\, 2021\, from 7:00-10:00 pm in Carrabelle\, FL. Visitors can enjoy this opportunity to see the St. George Sound and Carrabelle Beach’s gorgeous natural surroundings under the evening sky. Guests can also enjoy the fire pit (weather permitting). The museum and gift shop will be open for browsing and shopping. And\, there will be live music by the Bog Lilies! \nThe climb to the top of the tallest Forgotten Coast lighthouse rewards bold climbers with breathtaking views of the bay. The cost is $8 for adults and $3 for kids. All climbers must be 44 inches tall. Due to the Full Moon Climbs’ popularity\, reservations are required for those who wish to climb the lighthouse tower during this event. COVID protocols limit one party at a time to climb the tower\, and each party will exit before the next one climbs. A limited number of climbers are allowed in each party. There will be a time limit for viewing from the top. Guests who would like a more leisurely climbing experience are welcome to enjoy one of the daytime climbs available every Wednesday through Sunday. \nCrooked River Lighthouse is located in Carrabelle\, just west of the Carrabelle Public Beach Park at 1975 Hwy 98 W\, Carrabelle. SUMMARY:Cape St. George Lighthouse Sunset and Full Moon Climb
DESCRIPTION:Watch the sunset and the “Pink” moonrise on April 26 at the Cape St. George Lighthouse. This is a unique opportunity to enjoy the view of St. George Island\, the Gulf of Mexico\, and the Apalachicola Bay under the evening sky from the top of the lighthouse. \nThe April full moon is called the Pink moon in tribute to wild ground phlox\, also called “pinks”\, which is one of the earliest widespread flowers to appear in the spring. Full Moon names are attributable to Native American tribes\, most notably the Algonquin\, who named the moons to mark the changing seasons. \nThe Sunset and Full Moon Climb will begin at 7:00 p.m. and run until 9:00 p.m. Fifteen-minute time slots will be allotted for each group on a first-come\, first-served basis. Our COVID-19 protocols require each climber to wear a mask. One group will climb the tower and exit the tower before the next group is granted access. \nCost is $10.00 per climber for the general public and $7.00 for the St. George Lighthouse Association members. Cash or credit card payments accepted. All climbers must be at least 40 inches tall to climb the tower\, and children must be age 13 and over to access the outside catwalk. For more information\, please contact the Lighthouse Gift Shop at 850-927-7745. \nThe Cape St. George Light is located in St. George Lighthouse Park at the center of St. George Island\, where Island Drive (the road off the bridge) ends at Gulf Beach Drive. There is freshly roasted coffee\, delicious baked goods including cinnamon rolls and artisan bread\, gorgeous art and photography\, handcrafted balms and soaps\, fresh herbs\, vegetable seeds\, handmade goods\, and craft items\, produce\, and exotic starter plants. \nThe Crooked River Lighthouse Park now has its own garden! Currently\, lighthouse staff and volunteers are offering seeds and fresh herbs for sale during the markets. They are also selling hot-boiled peanuts. \nSinger/songwriter Susan David will again provide live music on the Keeper’s House’s front porch! \nAt 1:00 pm\, local herbalist Denise Williams will take visitors for a guided medicinal plant walk. Denise will lead guests for this 30-minute walk around the lighthouse’s grounds and explore its natural resources. The walk costs $5 and accepts a max of 10 people. \nGuests can also visit the free Museum and browse inside the Lighthouse Gift Shop for unique nautical gifts. Also\, shoppers have the unique opportunity to climb to the lighthouse’s top for a breathtaking view of the Bay. \nNew and returning vendors are always welcome. The cost to be a vendor is $10. DESCRIPTION:Come listen and learn about an fascinating history program entitled\, “Florida in World War I”. Learn about the contributions of Florida in WWI as well as the impact of the 1918 pandemic on Florida. This program and lecture features author Joe Knetsch\, who is an American historian and author who has published eight books and over 200 articles in numerous journals. Joe has a B.S. from Western Michigan University\, an M.A. from Florida Atlantic University and a Ph.D. from Florida State University. He taught at both the secondary and collegiate levels\, and worked as a historian for the Department of Environmental Protection and Department of Natural Resources. \nThere is no charge for this event but reservations are required. The History Speaker Series programs are popular and due to COVID precautions\, seating will be limited. Reservations are required by emailing carrabellehistorymuseum@gmail.com. Seats will be spaced to allow for social distancing. Attendees are asked to follow all health guidelines to help keep themselves safe including social distancing and sanitizing hands frequently. DESCRIPTION:If you’re an artist planning a Spring getaway to the Forgotten Coast\, consider planning your dates to coincide with this two-day workshop for the traveller (April 7 & 8 from 10 am – 1 pm each day). \nEver wanted to walk around your favorite historic neighborhood\, downtown\, or waterfront bar/restaurant and quickly draw and/or paint the scene in front of you in about an hour with a minimum amount of gear? Or how about when you’re stuck inside on a rainy day\, and want to paint those favorite travel photos from your phone or tablet. \nIn this workshop\, Mike Rooney\, known to plein air artists from Key West to the Carolinas for his fun and insightful classes\, will show you how to take a pen\, a pad of paper\, and a palm sized watercolor set and do just that. Make it a fast travel sketch or a finished painting; or create your own watercolor sketchbook journal. It’s up to you. Meet at the gallery and then go out and paint scenes in and around downtown Apalachicola. Rooney will cover drawing and watercolor tips like: simple tricks for perfect perspective; drawing and painting trees\, buildings\, cars\, and people; watercolor techniques for washes\, splatters\, and more. \nMike is recognized as one of the east coast’s top plein air painters\, and his work is widely collected.
