DESCRIPTION:The First Florida Chapter\, Military Vehicle Preservation Association will be at the Camp Gordon Johnston WWII Museum in Carrabelle for a tour of the new Motor Vehicle Building and their new exhibits. Anyone with an interest in historic military vehicles is welcome to come by to see the vehicles and learn about their preservation. Military vehicle owners\, whether they are MVPA members are not\, are welcome to come and bring their vehicles as well. \nCamp Gordon Johnston Museum is located across from Carrabelle Beach at 1873 Highway 98 West\, Carrabelle 32322. It is located on the site of the second-largest military base in Florida during WWII. The facility trained over 250\,000 troops for amphibious warfare in Europe and the Pacific. You will also get the chance to touch a sea turtle carapace\, or look close-up at loggerhead sea turtle eggs. This air-conditioned event is a wonderful chance to learn more about sea turtles and is great for anyone visiting the area alone or with family. \nThis event is expected to reach capacity\, we recommend arriving early.

SUMMARY:Remembering Carrabelle High School Exhibit
DESCRIPTION:The Carrabelle History Museum will present a special exhibit featuring Carrabelle High School memorabilia. It is part of the new and expanded Family Life Room with high school sports trophies across the decades starting with the 1920 football team and the 1937 state champion girls’ basketball team. There are old cheerleader outfits\, letter sweaters\, stadium cushions\, band jackets\, and cafeteria trays marking the transition from the Carrabelle Mullets to the Green Devils and finally the Panthers. Old pictures and artifacts of local drug stores and popular restaurants are alongside Coca-Cola memorabilia. Family genealogy notebooks and school yearbooks to peruse offer a trip down memory lane.  There is no charge for admission but donations are gladly accepted. The Carrabelle History Museum is open from 12 pm – 5 pm Sundays and Wednesdays and 10 am – 5 pm Thursdays\, Fridays\, and Saturdays.

SUMMARY:Crooked River Lighthouse Full Moon Climb
DESCRIPTION:June’s Full Moon is called the Strawberry Moon.  Visitors can enjoy this opportunity to see the gorgeous natural surroundings of the St. George Sound and Carrabelle Beach under the evening sky.  Guests can also enjoy the fire pit (weather permitting). Plus for this month’s Full Moon event\, there will be live music provided by Kevin Andrew and the Rockulla Performers\, a variety of young talent that will be playing guitar and ukulele\, and singing classic country and modern songs. Also being featured that night will be the Rockulla duo “Sumpin’ Old and Sumpin’ New\, a father and son team that plays a great variety of music. Bring a chair and enjoy the evening. The museum and gift shop will be open for browsing and shopping. \nThe climb to the top of the tallest Forgotten Coast lighthouse rewards bold climbers with breathtaking views of the bay. The cost is $8 for adults and $3 for kids. All climbers must be 44 inches tall. Due to the popularity of the Full Moon Climbs\, advance reservations are required for those who wish to climb the lighthouse tower during this event. Call 850-697-2732. \nCOVID protocols limit one party at a time to climb the tower\, and each party will exit before the next one climbs. A limited number of climbers are allowed in each party. There will be a time limit for viewing from the top.  Guests who would like a more leisurely climbing experience are welcome to enjoy one of the daytime climbs available every Wednesday through Sunday. \nCrooked River Lighthouse is located in Carrabelle\, just west of the Carrabelle Public Beach Park at 1975 Hwy 98 W\, Carrabelle.
