SUMMARY:Camp Gordon Johnston WWII Museum’s Dice Run
DESCRIPTION:Camp Gordon Johnston WWII Museum is excited to announce the return of its Dice Run on Saturday\, March 12\, 2022\, in Carrabelle\, FL as part of the 27th Annual Camp Gordon Johnston Day events. The Camp Gordon Johnston Dice Run will take place immediately following the CGJ Veterans Parade and is a much-needed fundraiser to support the museum’s mission. The funds raised by this event are used to preserve the heritage of the men and women who trained at Camp Gordon Johnston\, to share the stories of those who served in WWII\, as well as honor all our military veterans. \nDuring this fun event\, participants will drive along beautiful coastline US Highway 98 to various checkpoints\, rolling dice at each one. At the end of the day\, participants with the highest and with the lowest combined rolls win prizes. All types of vehicles are welcome to participate. Registration for the Dice Run will be open from 12:00-1:30 PM at Camp Gordon Johnston Museum\, 1873 US Hwy 98\, Carrabelle\, FL directly across from Carrabelle Beach Public Park. The run will conclude by 4:30 PM at American Legion Post #82 in Lanark. Prizes will be awarded for high and low rollers\, door prizes\, and 50-50 raffles. The ticket cost for this event is $15.00 for the rider/driver and $5.00 for each passenger and includes one dice card and great food at the last stop. \nGuests are urged to come to Carrabelle before the Dice Run to enjoy the Veterans Parade either as a participant or a spectator. The parade\, which honors and recognizes military veterans and active-duty military\, will start Saturday\, March 12 at 10:45 AM along US Hwy 98 in downtown Carrabelle. Visitors are also welcome to visit the museum to learn amazing stories of the region’s WWII heroes and see the remarkable artifacts. The museum will be open on Saturday from 11 AM to 5 PM. While in Carrabelle\, participants are encouraged to stay for the weekend (or the week) and enjoy a variety of community activities\, attractions\, and restaurants. \nSponsors\, volunteers\, and door prize donors are needed to support these events. Here in Franklin County\, the Apalachicola Artificial Reef Association (AARA) is the organization that oversees the expansion of artificial reef structures. Grayson Shepard from the AARA will present an overview of what artificial reefs are and provide the latest updates on the reefs in Franklin County.

DESCRIPTION:The Crooked River Lighthouse will be hosting a special Full Moon Lighthouse Event on Friday\, March 18\, 2022\, Sunday\, March 20\, 2022\, from 6:00-10:00 pm in Carrabelle\, FL. This special outdoor event will feature a delicious low country boil (served from 6:00-8:00 pm) followed by live music (8:00-10:00 pm). Visitors can enjoy this opportunity to see the gorgeous natural surroundings of St. George Sound and Carrabelle Beach under the gorgeous evening sky. Admission for this special Full Moon event is $15 for adults / $8 for children (6-16) and must be purchased in advance. (Climbs are not included in this price at this special full moon event.) \nLive music will be provided by the Rio Jazz Trio playing Blues\, Ballads\, Bebop\, and Bossanova. Guests can also visit the Museum and browse inside the Lighthouse Gift Shop for unique nautical gifts and souvenirs. Visitors can also relax next to the warm bonfire at the large fire pit (weather permitting). Bring a chair and enjoy the evening. \nFor this month’s special event\, admission must be purchased in advance. Admission cost is $15 for adults and $8 for children (6-16) and includes the low country boil (served from 6:00-8:00 pm)\, live music (from 8:00-10:00 pm)\, glowing bonfire at the fire pit\, and museum access. Admission can be paid online at https://www.crookedriverlighthouse.com/full-moon-climb/ or at the Crooked River Lighthouse Gift Shop. \nIn addition\, some guests may also choose to enjoy evening tower climbs during this event. The climb to the top of the tallest Forgotten Coast lighthouse rewards climbers with breathtaking views of the bay. Climbers must be 44” tall. It’s 1932 and everybody seems to be flat broke. Cleopatra Singleton\, the matriarch of the family and owner of Singleton House thinks that she might be the only person in town with money but that’s only because grandson Beauregard is selling off the family heirlooms to keep granny financially afloat. More money is needed and that’s when Beau and his Uncle Bertie decide to open a B & B. With dark Jamaican rum that looks a lot like sweet tea and with the help of “the girls”\, Trixie\, Mona\, and Velvet\, they figure out a way to make Singleton House a hilarious new business venture.

DESCRIPTION:The Crooked River Lighthouse will be hosting a Full Moon Lighthouse Climb on Friday\, April 15\, from 8:00-10:00 pm in Carrabelle\, FL. Visitors can enjoy this opportunity to see the gorgeous natural surroundings of the St. George Sound and Carrabelle Beach under the glow of the rising full moon. If the night skies are clear enough\, you might even be able to spot Dog Island!  \nAt this month’s Full Moon event\, the Crooked River Lighthouse will have a gifted musical duo\, “Boats a Rock’n”. “Boats a Rock’n” features singer/ songwriter\, Susan David on acoustic rhythm guitar\, harmonica\, and lead vocals and guitarist\, Terry Koral on lead guitar and vocals. This lively acoustic guitar duo plays a wide range of upbeat\, toe-tapping tunes spanning musical styles from reggae\, folk\, jazz\, rock\, blues as well as a few originals. \nGuests can also visit the free Museum and browse inside the Lighthouse Gift Shop for unique nautical gifts and souvenirs. Visitors can also enjoy the glowing fire pit (weather permitting). Bring a chair and enjoy the evening.  \nThe climb to the top of the tallest Forgotten Coast lighthouse rewards bold climbers with breathtaking views of the bay. The cost is $8 for adults and $3 for kids. All climbers must be at least 44 inches tall. Due to the popularity of the Full Moon Climbs\, advance reservations are required for those who wish to climb the lighthouse tower during this event. Call 850-697-2732.  \nA limited number of climbers (max of 7) are allowed at one time. There will be a time limit for viewing from the top.  Guests who would like a more leisurely climbing experience are welcome to enjoy one of the daytime climbs available every Wednesday through Sunday. DESCRIPTION:The April Sunset and Full Moon Climb at the Cape St. George Lighthouse on St. George Island will be held on Saturday\, April 16\, 2022. This is a unique opportunity to enjoy the view of St. George Island\, the Gulf of Mexico\, and the Apalachicola Bay under the evening sky from the top of the lighthouse. \nThe Sunset and Full Moon Climb will begin at 8:00 p.m. and run until 10:00 p.m. Fifteen-minute time slots will be allotted for each group on a first-come\, first-served basis. No advanced reservations will be taken. You will purchase your tickets in the gift shop and then sign up for your 15-minute time slot with the lighthouse keeper. Up to 12 persons are allowed in each 15-minute time slot. The gift shop will open at 7:30 pm to begin selling tickets. \nCost is $10.00 per climber for the general public and $7.00 for members of the St. George Lighthouse Association. Cash or credit card payments accepted. All climbers must be at least 40 inches tall to climb the tower and children must be age 13 and over to access the outside catwalk. For more information\, please contact the Lighthouse Gift Shop at 850-927-7745. \nThe sun will set at 8:07 p.m. and the “Pink” moon will rise at 8:16 p.m. on April 16. The April full moon is called the Pink moon in tribute to wild ground phlox\, also called “pinks\,” which is one of the earliest widespread flowers to appear in the spring. Full Moon names are attributable to native American tribes\, most notably the Algonquin\, who named the moons to mark the changing seasons. \nThe Cape St. George Light is located in St. George Lighthouse Park at the center of St. George Island\, where Island Drive (the road off the bridge) ends at Gulf Beach Drive. Parking is available in lots at either side of the park.
