DESCRIPTION:Come join us for An Evening on the Edge of the Sea to learn about the wondrous sea life along our pristine shores and shallows. The evening kicks off with a brief overview of local ecology\, followed by a walk into the exposed tidal flats to see an array of fascinating creatures. \nEdge of the Sea workshops take place at the FSU Coastal & Marine Laboratory in St. Teresa\, FL. They start at 5:30 PM and end at 7:30 PM (unless otherwise indicated)\, taking full advantage of daylight savings time. The cost is $15 per person\, paid at the event (cash or check). Class size is limited to 20 people. The minimum age is 7 years old. No upper limit at all! SUMMARY:Celebrate a Summer Evening at Twilight at the Tower
DESCRIPTION:The Crooked River Lighthouse invites visitors to Twilight at the Tower on Sunday\, July 26 from 7:00-9:00 pm ET in Carrabelle\, FL. This relaxing evening event offers after-hours museum visits\, gift shop browsing\, twilight tower climbs\, and the peaceful natural surroundings of St. George Sound and Carrabelle Beach as evening falls. Guests will also have the opportunity to enjoy the Buck Moon as it rises over the Forgotten Coast. \nThe Keeper’s House Museum will be open for special evening hours\, featuring the lighthouse’s original Fourth Order Fresnel lens\, constructed in Paris\, France\, in 1894. Visitors can also browse the lighthouse gift shop for unique nautical gifts and souvenirs. Crooked River Lighthouse’s first keeper\, James Williams\, will be at the top of the tower to educate and entertain guests. \nGuests will also enjoy live music by Cale Barber\, a glowing bonfire with hot dogs\, a live story reading of Abbie\, Keep the Light Burning\, a “Draw the Stars” activity for kids of all ages\, and “Venus Watching\,” with binoculars provided to view the current phase of Venus. The Beacon Bistro will be on the Keeper’s porch offering baked goods and refreshments by donation. There are also rumors that a small “buck” may make a special costumed appearance. As the evening sky transforms from warm sunset colors to deep twilight blues\, guests are encouraged to bring a chair\, relax on the lighthouse grounds\, and enjoy a memorable evening beneath the summer sky. \nFor those looking for an unforgettable view\, twilight tower climbs provide a chance to experience the tallest lighthouse on the Forgotten Coast from the top. Climbers will enjoy panoramic views of St. George Sound\, Carrabelle Beach\, and the beautiful colors of twilight stretching across the horizon as dusk settles over the coast. \nClimb reservations are encouraged. Evening climbs are scheduled at 15-minute intervals and cost $6 for the public and are free for current CLA members. Children ages 12 and under climb free with a ticketed adult and must be at least 44 inches tall.  Climb reservations and additional details are available in the gift shop or online.

Select tour goers and volunteers will get to use EMF detectors\, and other ghost-hunting equipment at select locations on the tour. Bring your positive energy and let’s try to say “hello” to the ghosts of Apalachicola. The tour will begin in front of the Chamber of Commerce which is located at 17 Avenue E next to the Dixie Theatre. This tour ranges in length from an hour and a half to an hour and 45 minutes.

GEORGE ISLAND\, FL – The St. George Lighthouse Association invites the public to experience the magic of the full moon with a Sunset and Full Moon Climb at the Cape St. George Light on Wednesday\, July 29\, 2026\, from 8:30 to 11:30 p.m.\nEvent Highlights\n• Sunset at 8:34 p.m.\n• Moonrise at 8:53 p.m. \nClimb Details\n• Time: 8:30 p.m. to 11:30 p.m.\n• Tickets: Tickets can be purchased beginning at 8:00 p.m. in the Lighthouse Gift Shop. No advance reservations will be accepted.\n• Cost: General Public – $10.00 per climber; SGLA Member – $7.00 per climber\n• Payment: Cash and credit cards are accepted.\n• Format: Fifteen-minute lighthouse climbs are offered on a first-come\, first-served basis.\n• Capacity: Each time slot is limited to 12 climbers to ensure safety and comfort. \nVisitor Requirements\n• All climbers must be at least 40 inches tall.\n• For safety reasons\, only children aged 13 and older may access the exterior catwalk. \nLocation – The Cape St. George Light is in Lighthouse Park at the center of St. George Island – End of Island Drive (off the bridge) at Gulf Beach Drive. \nHow to Participate\n1. In the event of inclement conditions\, updates will be posted on the St. George Lighthouse\, Museum & Gift Shop Facebook page. \nAbout the Buck Moon\nThe July full moon\, traditionally referred to as the “Buck Moon”\, was named by indigenous American Tribes referring to the time of year when deer antlers are in rapid growth. The name reflects a visible\, seasonal change in midsummer. Other names for this moon are Thunder Moon (Western Abenaki)\, Raspberry Moon (Algonquin\, Ojibwe)\, Flying Moon (Ojibwe)\, Honeybee Moon (Mahican)\, String Bean Moon (Oneida)\, and Little Sister of the Summer Moon (Tunica).
