Fish For a Cause This Weekend

The Franklin County Sheriff's Department Fishing Tournament will be held Saturday, Aug. 27th. This annual event is open to anyone 12 years of age or older. There will be a separate youth tournament that is FREE to enter. Kids ages 3-12 will be eligible to enter and various prizes and fishing gear will be awarded. Entrants can begin fishing at daylight on Sat. Aug 27th 2011. Tournament and Youth Weigh-in begins at 1:00 p.m. Closes at 4:00 p.m. The tournament Weigh In site will be located at Battery Park in Apalachicola. Entry Fees: $50.00 boat/team entry.

Targeted Fish Species will include Redfish, Trout, Flounder and Triple Tail. The Youth Tournament Fish Species will include Catfish, Croaker, Pinfish, Redfish, Trout and Flounder Grand Prize: $ 400.00 cash prize is awarded to team with highest point total.

Fall means fishing and mid September will be special for offshore enthusiasts. From Sept. 16 through Nov. 15, 2011, the gag grouper season will reopen for fall receational harvesting. So get rigged and get out there! Click here for season update information.
